Welcome to MPI’s Suicide Prevention Series. The following programs have been developed in concert with the Massachusetts Department of Public Health and do not require a subscription for viewing. Module 1 - Bullying & Social Media - A Pathway to Suicide

In Module 1, we’ll look at the rising epidemic of bullying via social media and provide you with recent case examples and the consequences resulting from these incidents. We’ll look at the important role of the School Resource Officer, and learn how he or she can influence school policies and procedures both on and off of school property. Lastly in this module we will outline the different types of bullying as well as some of the characteristics found to be common among bullies themselves.

In module 2, MPI will discuss specific issues faced by students with physical and mental disabilities and look some additional difficulties faced by LGBT students. This module will explain the different types of bullies and how they are categorized. Law enforcement concerns about student suicide will be addressed, as well as strategies for prevention.

One of he most effective ways to end bullying is through prevention. In this module, we will discuss the role of the SRO in bullying prevention and examine the laws related to bullying behaviors.
